About Artist

Chingiz Abassov is an Azerbaijani artist renowned for his expressive, free-flowing painting style and his unique fusion of the vivid, colorful traditions of the Azerbaijani school with the techniques of Western realism. Since the 1990s, Abassov has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions across the globe, including in Finland, the United States, the Gabala International Art Exhibition in Azerbaijan, ArtExpo in New York, the Florence Biennale in Italy, and through collaborations with Laguna Beach Galleries in California. His works are held in numerous private and public collections worldwide, notably including the Reinhold Würth Museum in Germany.

Born on May 3, 1963, in Baku, Azerbaijan, into a family of university teachers, Abassov showed a keen interest in art from an early age. At just six years old, he began attending drawing and painting classes at the Palace for Youth in Baku.

His formal training includes studies at the Azerbaijan State Art College named after Azimzade in Baku, followed by advanced studies at the Academy of Art and Design in the Department of Monumental Art, under the mentorship of Professor Oleg Kuznetsov in St. Petersburg, Russia. After graduating in 1989, Abassov worked at the Baku State Art Plant, focusing on government-commissioned mosaics and murals, and participated in several national youth art exhibitions. During this time, he also worked as an illustrator for various books published by the state publishing house.

In the early 1990s, Abassov began his international career, exhibiting extensively in Europe and the United States—a journey that has continued for over two decades. In addition to his exhibitions, he conducts summer workshops in Finland, where he teaches drawing, painting, and composition.

Chingiz Abassov is the creator of numerous private and public commissions. His artworks are part of prominent collections across the world. He currently lives and works between Azerbaijan, the USA, and Finland.
